How To Inflate Your Towable Tube

Towable Tube Inflation Tips

If you have a new towable tube, nothing is better than getting it out the box, inflating it and anticipating the fun to come.  The most important thing to do before you get tubing is to make sure it is inflated properly. Under inflation will not only affect the performance of the tube but the safety and lifetime.

Points to remember when inflating your towable

  • Make sure your tube is firm with no visible wrinkles in the cover
  • The nylon cover should fit like a second skin over the bladder. Furthermore, an adult that should be able to stand on the tube and sink no further than an inch or 2.5cm
  • Make sure you have a decent pump as blowing these up with your lungs is a no go.

The best Pumps for towable tube inflation

Make sure you have a good pump even though you do not need a high-pressure pump. Tubes are built to be low-pressure high volume products.

If you are going to buy a pump there are a few things to remember. The cheaper electric pumps will get your tube inflated to a point but it will need topping off with a hand pump just to finish it off. The more expensive electric pumps that go to about 2.5 should be able to pump your tube up fully.

A top off hand pump is always a good thing to have.

Take care of your towable tube on hot days

If you leave your tube on the lakeside or the beach while you are having lunch or a break on a hot day. Always remember to let some of the air out of the tube as air expands when hot so always do the above and leave in the shade to make sure you don’t get any unnecessary poppage.
