Bought this for my 5 and 7 year old grandkids after the older one fell on her face last year with the regular trainers. (We forgot to tell her to let go of the rope if she falls) Well, this is the best water toy purchase I've ever made! I decided to go with the larger tube for up to 120 lbs. since we have non-skiing relatives near the teen years who might enjoy it, too. And this trainer was the hit of our family get- together. The little ones LOVED it and felt super safe and the 12 year old got the feel of skiing before using regular skis. He also enjoyed just goofing off on it. He then got up on skis the 1st try (last year he couldn't get up).
The directions said to hold the rope and not attach it to the boat, but after the 1st run, we attached it. Maybe if you had young 3-4 year olds, it might be different. We also went faster then the 10 mph suggested, probably 15-20 mph. I only wish I knew how to attach pictures with this review to show how much fun it was!!

Worth every penny. Used half a dozen times & it's done so much to give kids confidence. The option for them to stand or sit as they need is wonderful. Plus under low speed they don't get wet, makes it great for when the weather is "almost" right. Haven't used just as a trainer ski yet, but it appears to unzip from the floats really easily. We tow it comfortably (with care) above the recommended speed limit & it does just fine. It's made of really durable materials & I expect to get years of use from it.
