At Walker Bay, we manufacture marine products and share a passion for boating and a life spent on the water. We stand behind our products, and what’s more, we use them.  Each product we make goes through extensive design and testing so we can offer a better experience for our customers.

Since 1997, Walker Bay has won over a dozen awards for product innovation, design, and outstanding business practices. Our company was founded on the principles of dependability and customer satisfaction so it is easy to see why there are more than 100,000 Walker Bay boats in use in over 50 countries around the world.

Walker Bay Construction

The Walker Bay dinghy construction is very lightweight yet durable design. These dinghies are made via high-pressure injection moulding. Injection moulding is a manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting molten material into a mould. Injection moulding can be performed with a host of materials mainly including metals, (for which the process is called die-casting), glasses, elastomers, confections, and most commonly thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers. Material for the part is fed into a heated barrel and injected (Forced) into a mould cavity, where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the cavity.

Why buy a Walker Bay Boat?

There are many reasons why a Walker Boat could be the boat for. Firstly the boats are very cheap for what they are and they are easily upgradeable from the base model. If you wanted to buy a new sailing dinghy it would set you back about £3000-£4000 (for a cheap one).  The basic 8 foot Walker Bay Boat comes in at £725. If you wanted to turn it into a sailing dinghy you would be looking at another £849.00. Which may not sound cheap but you get a fully functioning sailing dinghy for £1574. But the extra modding does not stop with the sail kit. You can also add a RID kit ( basically turns your dinghy into a RIB). Which means you can use a bigger engine as well as making the boat more buoyant. But the benefits don’t stop there the RID kit also stops your boat rubbing up against docks and getting damaged.

Walker Bay RID Kit

The VPD tube is varied in both diameter and shape along the length of the boat to provide optimum performance and to act as a Fender with a protective rub rail when alongside other boats or docking. The Walker Bay® RID offers increased cockpit space and dry comfortable seating compared to inflatables of the same size while maintaining the security of a durable rigid hull

 HOW IT WORKS

With a light load and moderate seas, the VPD tube does not engage and the bow cuts gracefully through the water. In heavier seas or as the load shifts, the VPD tube engages as required for lateral stability.

EXCEPTIONAL COCKPIT SPACE

Because of the large rigid hull structure with external tubes, the RID has exceptional cockpit space for a small lightweight inflatable dinghy. Three comfortable seats provide secure internal seating for all passengers and greater cargo capacity. The lapstrake hull of the Rigid Dinghy is designed to cut through water producing less displacement and drag, resulting in a boat that rows easier and straighter. What’s more, the Hydro Curve Oar blades are super light to reduce swing weight and rower fatigue and are curved to maximize rowing efficiency.

Conclusion

Walker Bay has spent years developing the best rigid boat on the market with multiple upgrades from just a plain rowing boat to a sailing boat and almost a RIB. If you want a boat which will pass the test of time this is the boat for you. For any more information please feel free to contact us or nip into our shop.

      Hi Lee,

I’m really sorry but we can’t get hold of any Walker Bay products at the moment as there is no UK distribution. The only way is to contact the company in America and import them.

Sorry, we can’t be more help.

      Thanks

      Nicola
