The Benefits of a Wakeboard Tower

Buying a Wakeboard Tower isn’t just for the benefit of a wakeboarder, it also helps you move stuff that clutters your boat up. With the addition of racks, speakers and lights they can be just as useful for tidying up your cluttered boat as well as giving the keen wakeboarders a better tow. These are only a few of The Benefits of a Wakeboard Tower.

A Brief History

Originally the way wakeboarders got more air time was by the use of a ski pylon. This is usually an extendable pole which was fitted at the back of the boat with 2 supporting arms. This is a good way to get started but the problem lies in the space the pole system takes up. This system is still used by a lot of people today with RIBS and centre console boats. Here at Boatworld we still sell a lot a year. Including Pylons that give a higher tow point for jet skis. They are still popular but a boat with a wakeboard tower is more aesthetically pleasing and gives you more performance.

The Benefits of a Wakeboard Tower

From a price point of view, ski pylons are cheaper and do the job with less cost (both for the product and fitting). But a wakeboard tower has a lot more to offer as well as a longer shelf life.

Over the last 30 years or so Wakeboard Towers have gone from a tool used by wakeboarders and skiers for better air and hang time to a fashion statement and another way to look cooler on the water.  From LED lights, board racks, speaker systems and more you can pimp your boat out to be the coolest on the lake.

As well as the enhanced riding experience wakeboard towers will give you the option to have a clutter free boat in a way that the ski pylon cannot compete with.

Another benefit of a tower is that it gives you more support when you are moving around the boat or getting on and off. The Tower gives you something to hang onto. What did people do before Wakeboard Towers? I imagine falling around was a lot more prevalent.

Styles of Wakeboard Tower

There are hundreds of different styles of towers on the marketplace from forward facing towers to towers which have flat tubes. The style of a wakeboard tower is mainly down to the style that you would prefer on your boat. All wakeboard towers offer a high tow point. One of the best features that not all wakeboard towers have but is very useful is a collapsible tower so the boat can fit in a garage.

Xcite/Boatworld Vertigo Tower

The Vertigo is a great affordable tower that will fit on most boats. Available in 2 different sizes narrow (66″-98″) or the standard size ( 77″-105″). As well as being available in 2 sizes that fit most boats it also comes in two finishes. Polished for a blingy shiny look which is perfect for lake use. Polished towers can be used on the sea but you have to take extreme care with washing them down every time you go out. The other option is anodised which is perfect for the sea as it is protected from salt water corrosion. The finish of an anodised tower is more of a matte finish but it still looks very nice when fitted.

The vertigo wakeboard tower is made out of aircraft grade aluminium which gives it strength as well as the 2″ tubes perfect for all our Boatworld racks and mirrors. Highly durable finishes in either polished or anodised. The secure design also means there is no creaking or groaning from the tower when it is in rough water.

The Vertigo tower is perfect if you plan on storing your tower in a garage or somewhere that is height restricted as the Vertigo tower folds down in minutes.

All in all the Vertigo wakeboard tower is the perfect tower for you if you need something which is affordable and gives a great towing point for board sports and skiers.
